AWS Announce Amazon’s AI HealthScribe – A New Generative AI

Amazon Web Services has launched a new AI tool called HealthScribe. This AI tool uses advanced technology of speech recognition to help doctors in healthcare. It is made with the help of an machine learning to facilitate doctors when patients visit them and record efficiently their problems. It assists doctors and saves their time in documenting outpatient visits.

HealthScribe

HealthScribe’s Primary Goal

AI HealthScribe’s primary goal is to work efficiently in handling these tasks. It works by recording the conversations between doctors and patients and converting them into summaries that are easy to understand. This summary includes all questions and reasons like why the patient visited the doctor, what is patient’s history of illness, and other major/minor points that are important to mention. Even this AI HealthScribe stored the original conversation between the doctor and patient for reference.

AI Improves Medical Practices.

It helps doctors to do documentation in a faster way and focus more on patient problems. HealthScribe stores all this information in electronic health records making it easy to access the patient record. This shows how big brands like Amazon are also using AI systems to solve people’s needs as AI improves medical practices.

Amazon assures that patient and doctor conversations will be secure as it will not be shared with the third party. It focuses on people’s rights by securing this conversation between them and following a strict privacy policy. They also assured people that this conversation will not be used as a training dataset for the HealthScribe tool.

Instead, HealthScribe providers will need to create their language model to facilitate medical clinics and others, based on common prescription names and dosages. In short, this AI system will not use any personal information of patients to make this system better in performance.

Competitor AI Tools Are Med-PaLM And Nuance

Amazon is exploring healthcare fields. In the past year, Microsoft come up with a health AI company called Nuance, also Google is developing a new AI model that will help doctors to find information quickly, this new tool is called Med-PaLM.  In March, Microsoft, and Nuance are going to launch a new AI medical system that will work as HealthScribe. It will automatically record the patient and doctor’s conversations and summarize them. In the coming March, they will release their HealthScribe AI system which will show the potential of AI working in the medical field.

Google’s Med-PaLM

Google’s Med-PaLM will work as a special AI system that is going to assist doctors uniquely. When doctors ask different complex questions about patient health, then at that stage this AI tool will help the doctor to find the accurate solution easily. This way doctors can diagnose patients on the details he provided. This new AI tool will focus on the symptoms and causes that have effect patients with diseases. It helps doctors t make better decisions and provide better care to patients.

Amazing Fact:

Google’s AI system, Med-PaLM, launching new AI systems that will deal with these problems easily. For the first time, AI will be used in diagnosing patients and it is going to be the first AI tool that is going to pass the U.S. Medical License Exam with an accurate percentage of 86.5%.

Popular Tool:

This tool will be the first one that has gained medical company attention like 3M Health Information Systems, Babylon Health, and ScribeEMR. Amazon is planning to sell this AI tool to build medical companies rather than selling this AI tool to people. Amazon is shifting its target audience from individuals to companies.

Contra (Opposing Views):

People are concerned with the quality of these AI tools such as whether will they provide accurate results while diagnosing patients Some experts, like John Halamka from the Mayo Clinic Platform, suggest that they should run this tool independently to check AI algorithms in s same way as Food and Drug Administration checks new medicine.
